The order-loving Hemulen is the mascot of every collector who simply will not rest until the collection is complete. The Hemulen coinage, struck in honour of the artist Tove Jansson, includes the metal Finnish circulation coins of 2014 in BU quality. At the centre of the series is a commemorative medal for Tove Jansson.

Between the Sea and the Lonely Mountains lies Moominvalley, among whose residents we can always find one to identify with. Who wouldn’t recognise themselves in the Groke, wandering alone in the mountains, or the resourceful and slightly vain Snork Maiden?Curious plants, glossy stamps – the Hemulen is always finding something new to collect. Indeed, collecting has become such an important hobby for the Hemulen that he has no time for anything else. This character has been familiar to Moomin fans for a long time, since the Hemulen made its first appearance in 1945 in the very first Moomin book, The Moomins and the Great Flood.

Artist Tove Jansson, the creator of the Moomin world, is one of the most internationally known and beloved Finnish authors. The centennary of Tove Jansson’s birth will be celebrated in 2014.
